Why It Matters

Safeguarding in Sport.

Every child and young person at Altrincham Angels has the right to enjoy netball in a safe, positive and supportive environment. Safeguarding is not a box-ticking exercise, it is the foundation that lets children thrive in sport free from harm, whether that is physical, emotional or online.

As a club affiliated to England Netball, we follow their safeguarding framework in full, alongside our own Codes of Conduct for players, parents, coaches and volunteers. Every coach and committee member with regular contact with children holds a valid DBS check, and our Club Safeguarding Officer is your first point of contact for any concern, however small it may seem.

The Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) and England Netball both publish further guidance on data protection in grassroots sport.
Data Protection

What This Means for You.

We collect only the personal data we need to run the club safely and fairly: player and parent contact details, emergency contacts, medical information relevant to netball, and photography/video consent preferences. This data is used solely for club administration, safeguarding, team communication and, where consented, promoting the club through our website and social media.

Your data is stored securely and is never sold or shared with third parties beyond what is required for league registration and insurance. You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time by contacting our Data Protection Officer.

Photography and video consent: if you withdraw consent for your child to appear in club photos or video, we will stop using new content of them from that point onward. In line with standard practice, we do not retrospectively remove content that was published while consent was in place.

Cookies Policy View
This website uses only essential cookies required for it to function correctly, for example keeping you logged in to the Members' area. We do not use tracking, analytics or advertising cookies. No cookie consent banner is required under current guidance for essential-only cookies, but you can clear cookies for this site at any time via your browser settings.
Data Retention Policy View
We keep player and parent registration details for the duration of membership plus one season, to handle re-registration and league record-keeping. Safeguarding concern records are retained for a minimum of seven years in line with NSPCC and England Netball guidance, regardless of continued membership. Financial records are kept for six years as required by HMRC. Data no longer needed is securely deleted.
Security Policy View
Club data is held in Google Workspace/Gmail accounts and the club's WordPress Members' area, both protected by strong, unique passwords and two-factor authentication where available. Access to sensitive data, including safeguarding records and medical information, is limited to committee members with a genuine need to see it. The club does not store payment card details, all payments are processed through third-party platforms (such as Spond or direct bank transfer) that handle their own compliant security.
Your GDPR Rights View
Under UK GDPR you have the right to: see the personal data we hold about you or your child (right of access), ask us to correct anything inaccurate (rectification), ask us to delete data we no longer have a reason to keep (erasure), ask us to pause how we use your data while a query is resolved (restriction), receive a copy of your data in a portable format (portability), and object to how we use it. AJNC does not use automated decision-making. To use any of these rights, contact our Data Protection Officer above. If you remain unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
